Do I need primer?
Not usually as ARMORTEX is self-priming over bare sheetrock, wood, plaster and previously painted surfaces. Some metals, glass, oil based and epoxy
enamels do require specialty primers.
Can I apply ARMORTEX over an existing texture?
Yes, you can roll, trowel or spray this over an existing texture and it will fill in some of the highs and lows and create a new texture. In some cases the
previous texture will “telegraph” through. Always do a test patch and let dry completely as there is approx 50% shrinkage upon drying.
Can I paint over ARMORTEX?
Yes, you can paint over this system. ARMORSHIELD™ is recommended.
Can I sand it?
Yes, but it sands like all other acrylic coatings. If you are looking to eradicate the texture you are better off skimming.
How big of a sprayer is needed to spray on ARMORTEX?
Any airless machine that will do a gallon a minute will work fine. Take out the filters and use a .023 tip and set the pressure to 2800 PSI.
Can I trowel it on?
Yes, right out of a mud pan.
Water based?
Yes
Can I tint ARMORTEX?
ARMORTEX can be tinted at the paint store. It comes in both a tint base for light to medium colors and a deep tint base for dark colors. ARMORTEX also
comes in twelve pre-tint colors or for large jobs, it can be ordered from the factory in a custom color.
Do I drill mix it?
Not recommended.
Can I thin it?
Not recommended.
How thick can I apply ARMORTEX?
The best rule of thumb is if the product sags, it is too thick.
What sheens are available?
ARMORTEX dries to a matte finish.
Can I stop middle of wall?
Not recommended. If necessary, feather out your edges.
Can I use multiple colors?
Yes, but let the first coat dry thoroughly. |
